When did I become a boring adult?

Phase 1 of our tax return hit the bank account today! Woo! State of Maine is QUICK this year, 3 days (Monday night to Thursday morning) from filing to money back.

I am going to buy a vacuum.

I am inordinately excited about this vacuum.

For one, it's PURPLE. :D For two, it is a Dyson DC25 Animal Cyclonic Vacuum with Ball. Super maneuverable. So I can go zooming around the house making vroom vroom noises (if the vacuum isn't on...). And I'm not paying full retail for it, thanks very much, refurbished will be fine, and save nearly $200.00. I've wanted a Dyson for a while... Finally have both justification and means to get one.

Then I have to actually use it more than once a month to keep on top of the kitty tumbleweed issues, but we'll work on that. Maybe I can vacuum the cats! hm... they may not have much fur left, if the commercials are to be believed... I'll just work on the floors.

Suddenly I am envisioning a Roomba vs. your kitty... :D

Hmm... :)

I suspect Galahad would be afraid of it and run and hide back on the bed, but Lancelot would ignore it and not move unless he was physically bumped into... he's kinda deaf and may not realize anything is going on at all.

Then again, they could both surprise us and do like RoombaKitty did, and go for a ride! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQ-jv8g1YVI

That's exactly what I was thinking. (Roombakitty). :D

OhGod, look at the video of the one that has the PILE of kittens on it!! :D

Didn't see that one... but I do see Stalking Cat. :)

Eeeheeheehee... yes... Stalking Cat is Sneeky. :)

Pile o' kittens!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTxW3GWZ5hI (hrm... it appears to stop halfway through, but you'll get the idea...)

You snagged a Dyson?! NICE!!!! I would love one of those for my house. If they made them in red, I'd most likely all ready have one. (Yeah... Impulse purchases due to color. That's me!)

I hate vacuuming with great passion, but a decent vacuum makes it nearly bearable.

Congratulations!

Don't worry about being boring. I'm not exactly the most interesting person ever. Sometimes the highlights of my days off include a trip down to AK Raw Fur, followed up by take out eaten in the parking lot of UAF's Musk Ox farm. During the summer, I park down by the river and watch the ducks.

Should I even tell you how excited I continue to be with the Dyson I bought us? The thing is friggin' AWESOME, picks up everything.

Yes, let us boring adults unite!

They do, in fact, come in red. :D

And I think sitting and watching the ducks is lovely, not boring at all. :)

Everything I've heard/read tells me I've got the Best Thing Ever. Hoping it at least helps some so my poor brother and his girlfriend can spend more than 5 minutes in my house without dying of allergy attack. :)

You won't believe how much crap it picks up the first few times you use it, you'll be really disgusted at yourself! Just remember that initially you'll need to empty it quite often but that'll ease up once you've vacuumed a few times. It picks up the hair from our two cats (and mine >.> ) amazingly well.

[identity profile] felis-lupus.livejournal.com 2011-02-18 02:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I am actually excited (and a little disgusted, preemptively) to see what it finds in these carpets... the people who owned the house before us were not exactly... clean... and had 2 dogs. So who knows. Ew.

Question - does it seem to be any louder/quieter than a "regular" vacuum?

[identity profile] isabel-london.livejournal.com 2011-02-18 04:18 pm (UTC)(link)
My perception is distorted because our previous vacuum was broken and so REALLY loud. By comparison this one is silent. I also bought us a canister (I prefer them) rather than an upright, so that may / may not make a difference.

Oh my...
I wonder if the Free Shipping counts for Alaska? That would be a NICE vacuum to use.

:)
The ducks are great. Even if some people do think they are boring, I do a lot of relaxing things like that. hehehe

[identity profile] felis-lupus.livejournal.com 2011-02-18 08:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah... excellent. This tells me there is at least a chance of it being quieter than my current (not-broken) vacuum.

[identity profile] felis-lupus.livejournal.com 2011-02-18 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Would be worth checking out. :)

[identity profile] magna-mael-duin.livejournal.com 2011-02-22 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
This is simply a crime against nature.

[identity profile] magna-mael-duin.livejournal.com 2011-02-25 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
...because nature abhors a vacuum.

**GROAN**

:) You silly...

I love the vacuum! It came yesterday! I get to clean my house tonight! Yaaay!
