WOOO HOOO! Gotta LOVE when suddenly your house becomes a home, and not some makeshift shack you can sleep in when necessary.
I still remember sleeping on a queen sized air mattress (that would occasionally lose integrity at at zero-dark-hundred) on the 3rd floor (the newest addition of the house, so the only place besides the kitchen that didn't look like a war zone) with contractor tracks all over everything.
Another big step is finally when you start taking serious steps to make it yours. When we pulled up some shitty wall-to-wall carpet (and were surprised at how great the floors still looked after being covered for 30+ years!) and had the interior painted suddenly it started looking a LOT more like us, and considerably less like the former owners.
