That's it, I've had it.

So, I go to Home Despot this evening, to pick up a few switchplates, other odds and ends we need to finish the bedroom (soooooon!), and what do I see the moment I walk in the door?

Christmas.

Christmas has exploded all over the front of the store. It's OCTOBER 6TH. And I know the display hasn't just been up for a day or two... it probably went up over the weekend. Ornaments. Garland. Little houses for the light up villages (I will admit to owning a half a dozen of these, all different greenhouses/floral shops...), and trees. Oh god, the trees. Plain or pre-lit, white, colored, twinkly, blinking, different colored needles, you name it, it was probably there... Too much.

I guess I hadn't quite recovered when the lovely lady in the purple shirt asked "how are you today, can I help you find anything?" and all I could do was gape and point and sputter incoherently at her... It would have been rather embarrassing, I suppose, but she laughed and understood, and we shared some "ARGH" together.

C'mon, people... the lady was right, she said "we wouldn't put it out if people weren't buying it already!" It. Is. October. OCTOBER. The first week of October. We've not even made it to Columbus Day yet! Let it go, for just a few more weeks?

I will decorate Sam the Tangerine again this year, I think... According to [livejournal.com profile] kurlon, it's tradition now... done it for 2 years in a row. I'm good with that.

But not before December 13.

;)

You're behind a little- JoAnn's and even the grocery stores trotted their Xmas stuff out a week or two ago. Hard to handle, considering even Fairbanks was still having pleasant fall weather at the time!

AGH. /sigh... I guess I need to get out more... or not as much? The only stores I've been to in the last month have been the grocery store, and WalMart, and WalMart doesn't even have anything up, or hadn't as of last week.

(wait, what? Pleasant fall weather? You mean to tell me it doesn't snow ALL YEAR in Alaska?? ;) (sorry, sorry, I'll stop... ;) ))

Bealls had their Christmas display up mid last month, complete with Santa-gator lawn ornaments. Christmas with palm trees is surreal, and yes it does get earlier every year. Pretty soon the stores just won't ever take the stuff down.

Yessss... that's a little weird. But no stranger than a tangerine, I suppose. :) The Santa-gators, though? Erm... demand photos? I can't even picture what that might be.

The Nice HomeDespot Lady said that BJ's has had their display up for three weeks already, too... sigh.

Ewwwww. I guess retailers do need to jump on the christmas train a little bit early, but...beginning of October? Just ew.

(I'm lucky if I start thinking Christmas at all before Black Friday. XD)

Yup. How early is too early? But it's like the lady said... they wouldn't put it out if people wouldn't buy it.

Sam is now a christmas staple. We can put a traditional tree on the deck or run a line to one in the woods too if you want?

Oh, we'll figure something out. Since the little yellow trees are still there, I kinda want to put lights on at least three of them. :)
