Winter's over! It's a bright, sunny day, no snow whatsoever in the forecast, and the Sox are reporting to Spring Training! Spring is on the way!

Only 4 1/2 hours, and then I get to leave work, visit with the kitties a bit, and then go sign my life savings away... Awesome. :)

EDIT, 9:15 AM - Cannot visit the boys. :( The shelter folks are just there to clean today, and will be gone by 11:00. I has a little sad. Will visit tomorrow or Sunday, perhaps...

WE CAN HAS HOUSE!!!

[livejournal.com profile] kurlon and I are now the proud owners of three little pieces of brass that will unlock two different doors, neither of them the front entrance.

All the paperwork took about 45 minutes, we got our key, three of the most expensive pens we've ever bought, and a great big pile of happy. The credit union even gave us a little thank-you gift; a backpack, with a couple water bottles, a travel mug, regular mug, more pens & a few pads of paper, and a little 6-in-1 travel game set. Aw. Can't say enough good things about People's Choice CU. They have been incredibly helpful, understanding, and patient through this whole thing.

We went to the house after signing lots of papers, stopped by a flooring place down the road, set up an appointment for next Friday for them to come out and measure and at least give us a quote. At the house, we saw at least a few of the mousetraps did the job we'd set them to do, wandered around, turned lights on and off, and generally reveled in the fact that we were finally inside the house, on our own, legally! Measured the garage door that needs replacing, and have since discovered that a replacement will be a whole lot of fun to try and obtain at a reasonable price... 10' wide x 8' tall is apparently NOT a standard size. *sigh* So the weirdness begins... :) What else will we find, I wonder?

We will be stopping by to see the kitties before heading over tomorrow. New locksets are a primary focus, then we're going to clear out the junk and icky carpets, wash floors, and generally start to make the place habitable. First order of business when we arrive, though, is to take the cliché photo in front of the brokerage sign... I don't think we'll have a 'SOLD' sign on the top, but darnit, it's our first house, we've got to do it!! Can't wait to take photos of empty, clean rooms too... :)
