Fencing at the Fort is Fun!

A perfect day for a most excellent event. I arrived at Fort Knox on Saturday morning in plenty of time to catch up and visit with people before tourney time. The grass areas were dried out enough too, amazingly, for us to be allowed on the parade ground for the first time in years, providing more area for stabby stabby fun!
My round-robin pool (me, Ivan, Dracaea, Sam, Toby (?), and Galen) elected to go up to the roof to play for the Smallsword Tourney, and everybody ran all over the fort for the heavy set. The melee in two-step alley was quite possibly the best one I'd ever been a part of. Christian's plan of "power gaming" and stacking alllll the marshals/OGRs/OSRs (ooh! that's me!) on one team and leaving the rest of the regular folks to defend wasn't the cakewalk he expected it to be, I think. Those regular folks figured it out, those smart college kids. :) We fought back and forth over the same two rooms several times.
Benjamin from Endewearde is on a tourney-winning tear, finally wrestling the Smallsword throne from Sir Ivan, after winning last weekend's Northern Regional Rapier Champion. So happy for him! Jordan won his own heavy rapier tourney, getting the prize of Cedric's beautiful Italian buckler.
I had a good day. Fenced lots, talked to lots of people, took lots of photos, the best of which are here. Listened to Aneleda sing in the gun ports. Listened to Jean sing in the gun ports. Made me cry a bit, both of them... good tears, though.
After event, had dinner with Jehan and Kyle at Sunnywood, their beautiful new home. They have goats, baby chickens, are getting sheep, and are living a dream. It's wonderful, and it was truly, truly a treat to visit with dear friends who I've not really seen or spent any good time with since leaving college. A beautiful, wonderful day, all around.
