From 01-22 K&Q Rapier

I call this photo "Moment of Dawning Realization". More photos, click on the picture for the whole gallery. One of these days I'll figure out how to use the dang camera in low light; I know it can do better than it did...

K&Q Rapier was a lot of fun. Fenced lots, met some new people, hung out lots. Did better in my pool than I did last year, which was really all I was hoping for.

Started off badly. Dunno where my head was, but my opponents were certainly finding it, with the tips of their swords, and pointing it out to me... Caine said I wasn't fencing like me, and it certainly didn't feel like it... Once I put the dagger down and picked up buckler, of all things, I did better. Stopped getting stabbed in the head. Highlight of the fencing: A beautiful bout with Don Pasquale de Mar. Him: case. Me: buckler & single. Fencing fencing fencing... parry parry parry... then I managed, somehow, to sweep both his blades to my left, come in, and deliver a gorgeous thrust to his neck. To say I was surprised would be an understatement. Things got a bit better from there on out, I think I won 4 out of 10 bouts...

Congrats to moonandtree on his well deserved OGR. It was wonderful to watch it all unfold... :)

Wonderful dinner afterward with Quinn, LT, marajade648, moonandtree, Xavier, Adi, and one other gal from Montreal who was absolutely lovely and I cannot for the life of me remember her name, but we have a fencing date in March. Can't wait. :) Still need to find a teleporter... everybody is far too far away...
