Pennsic Report - Part 2

Survived my first day back at work... relatively low-key, meetings, planning... it's going to be crazy for the next couple months. Plans are in motion... ack! And as it appears that we did not in fact bring any of the nice PA weather back with us right away, fencing practice will probably be inside tonight... pooey. Still going to go, I haven't fenced in nearly 4 days! Getting rusty already (though hopefully the swords aren't...).

Pictures are up! Sorted through the 400ish I took, and came up with what I think are the best ones... Right here.

After a somewhat disappointing Seige on Sunday, the field battles on Monday were all I'd hoped they would be. Most exciting, seeing the however many hundreds of fencers all advancing on each other across the huuuuuge battlefield. We (Dragoons, Privateers, and friends) were Her Royal Highness's defenders (though she didn't need too much defending), and all involved had a blast, I think. I even got to stab a few people on the other side before becoming a pincushion myself. :) And you were right, [livejournal.com profile] nomadmwe, Green Tea Smoothies are most definitely made of awesome and win. Cappuccino ones too. Discovered also on this day that I would probably not be making it to any classes at all, as fencing stuff in the middle of the day kinda consumes the morning with wanting to be ready on time, and the afternoon with cooling down and recuperating.

After dinner, Vincent and I spent a lovely evening wandering the camp. Went to a Star Wars birthday party, and intended to go a bit further than we did, but ended up in Carolingia, where [livejournal.com profile] gryphonsinistre and co refused to let us leave, and force-fed us lamb and yummy vegetables (ok, not really forced...), and there was fire, and rum, and friends, and laughter, and it was good. Stayed up too late. Oh well.

Tuesday was a good day not to fence. Rainy, drizzly, and general ickiness. There was the Champions War Point in the afternoon, which I was definitely not fencing in, but not much else of interest. Shopping day, hanging out with the campmates day, and Wolgemut concert in the evening. Bought postcards, dropped off scroll photocopies and poked around the A&S display, dodged rainstorms... The rapier champions war point started at 3, and took four hours... aieee... Stayed to the end, so we could see our Captain. They were all most entertaining and well fought bouts from where we were watching (not necessarily from those fighting, but this was war, and we do do this because it is fun, remember...).

Ran to the A&S tent just in time for an evening with Wolgemut, grabbed the last two seats in the house, and were surrounded by fantastic music for the next hour and a half. Those guys certainly can play drums.

Returned to camp, had dinner, crashed. More fencing to come...
This was apparently a Fencing Pennsic for me, and I think I'm ok with that. It's where most of my friends are, and helped work off the incredible amounts of bacon that we'd been eating...
