Stairs are my nemesis, today... ow ow ow.
12th night was fantastic. Got there on time, fenced LOTS, saw lots of old friends and met some new, got to talk and stab a couple people that I had met only very briefly at 100 Minutes War, and had in general a fabulous time. Got to show off lots. Got lots of compliments, about an even split between fencing and garb, which was a nice change. Usually it's "OOOOOH! Your garb is fantastic!", and that's it... Which is nice, but it's good to see the skill is starting to make it through the swirl of cloaks. The old familiar muscle pain is with me... I think I was not well-enough hydrated before I started, and my thigh muscles don't much care for that. I'll survive.
I think I won the tourney... I think? I had (semi-legitimately) the most gold coins at the end, except for L, who bought herself a whole bunch... Not sure what was ultimately decided. Hee.
Fencing was awesome, feast was pretty good (didn't hold a candle to Winter Feast Malagentia, though the roast beef at the end was absolutely perfect.), court was pretty short. Cleanup and setup of thrones etc went quickly and without problems, though we had to pin their majesties' banners to the rear stage curtains, as there were no poles. Oops. Saved the day by remembering how to open the main curtain on the stage. :) There were several tense moments right before court, before I figured out what the panic was all about. All better.
Dancing... well... we're lucky in Malagentia. I left before I got too frustrated. The band was excellent, but it helps to know the dance, at least a little bit, if one is trying to teach it... or at least listen to those couple other people that do, and are trying to herd the cats... oh well. In the interest of not barging in and taking over somebody else's dance class/ball (and I could have...), I excused myself from the dance floor. Most of the people I knew or cared about had left or were leaving at that point, so I left too. Glad I went. Had a blast.
Did not take any photos, though a lot of people were. I hope I get to see some of them. :)
