Back in the Saddle
Sep. 25th, 2008 12:46 amI got a motorcycle ride tonight. :)
It's been so long... between hand injuries, and racing, and the bike not being ready, and screwed up work schedules, and just plain old being tired and worn out, we haven't done much riding in the last couple years. The last time we really got so spend some quality time with the motorcycle was on our honeymoon (and that was a LOT of quality time).
I felt like I was back in Nova Scotia tonight. :)
The weather widget on my desktop says it's 48 degrees out. My knees (and fingers, as I can't hardly type two words without having to go back and fix spelling or spacing) say differently. We've ridden in colder, but I need to get some flannel lined jeans, or riding pants, or something for next year. Also boots, and gloves, and possibly a new helmet. Jacket is fine. I like my jacket.
Raccoon eyes glow red in headlights.
kurlon has this week off, so he's spending most of it at the motorcycle shop up the street. Tonight was the night to put miles on a bike they're trying to fix, so once I figured out that yes, I can bring all my stuff in a backpack (duh, lived off of a motorcycle for a week; I can certainly make one night), off we went. Was wonderful.
Looking upwards and seeing nothing but stars overhead, holding on to someone you love, while 100 horses chug away beneath, flying over the ground, is one of the most fantastic feelings in the world. :)
I will probably take the class and get my license next summer. I may even have a bike, if
kurlon's diabolical plan goes through... A li'l red Suzuki of my very own. Slightly dented, well loved (but runs great, so I hear). Now to find the time...
