Woo Hoo!

Sooooo... would have been nice to know this a bit earlier, like, say, yesterday afternoon, but anywho.

I get to go home whenever I want today! The stuff that my boss wanted me here to do is already done, so I don't need to stay. Woot! Going to finish looking through the perennial plug catalog, get the order entered, and then I'm outta here!

I think today is garb day (finally made the mock-up, Isobel and I are exactly the same size! Fantastic!). I've decided to abandon my velvet search, as it appears that the manufacturers have actually stopped making the delightful thick cream velvet that I want. Fortunately I have an old rabbit-fur vest that was donated for another project, but will work just fine for this one, after it's cleaned up a little bit. :) Thank you, Ray & Cindy. Might even be enough left to do the other project after I'm done, if I'm careful.

Tomorrow I get to go to the new house and start cleaning! Oh boy... I have never been so excited to go clean bathrooms and a nasty kitchen, and probably (hopefully) never will again. Once the old icky food is gone, things will be much much better inside. Eeeeee!

WOW.

So... I ordered a pair of leather riding boots last night, about 9:30 PM, from Zappos.com. Need new fencing boots, wanted actual leather, instead of polyvinyl from Walmart, and these were on crazy sale. Fit the bill quite nicely. Got the last pair! Free shipping! 3-5 days, ground.

They arrived 10 minutes ago.

Best. Free. Shipping. Ever.

And, they fit, mostly... they're a little tight in the foot, I may send back and get the wider width. Hrm. But, free shipping on returns. :)

EDIT: And, 15 minutes later, I have a brand new pair of wider width boots coming, free shipping, tomorrow. Returns are easy and the people are lovely. I like Zappos.

Weekend with the In-laws

Now that I've had a moment or three to sit and not pack/clean/organize, last weekend was wonderful. Got in a bit later than planned on Friday night, woke up a bit earlier than I'd hoped to on Saturday, but otherwise was a relaxing weekend.

Visited with Grandma and Grandpa C, met Grandma's new kitty Babe, who is only 6 months old, and ENORMOUS. At least 14 pounds, and not done growing. One big smooshy kitty, double-pawed, and mellow as anything. He's lovely. I want one. Or two. (and we can have them now! Soon....) We think he's part Tonkinese, and definitely part something else, big.

Dinner was had, presents were opened, relatives were visited with. Went with F & B to a Christmas party at one of F's cousins' homes on Saturday night. Had a lovely visit and we all made out pretty well at the Yankee Swap. Met some relatives I didn't know I had, on F's side of the family.

Drive home was uneventful. The snow dumping that was working its way up the coast didn't hardly touch Maine. There was a dusting at the new house when we stopped by to check and make sure the heat was still on and not draining the tanks, but that was it. Cleaning supplies and trash bags have been acquired, the battle begins at 1PM tomorrow.
