Medical Update...

So... back from the hand specialist with J. It was worse (but not horribly so) than originally thought. The docs weren't too impressed with the taping/splinting job that the hospital in Concord did, but they've fixed it. Along with the ring and middle fingertips that shattered, he split one of the bones in his thumb, right near the joint, and cracked two metacarpals near the wrist. (anybody who actually knows medical terminology is probably cringing at my inaccuracy/possible repetition, but too bad...) They've re-wrapped/splinted everything, he has a temporary cast, and on Thursday goes into surgery. They're going to put pins in his thumb, and find out exactly how much damage was done to his ring finger. There is a distinct possibility that it will end up shorter than it started... it's nearly a sure thing that the nail will not come back at all. blech... *twitch*
He is doing fine, no pain at the moment, as his hand is now actually immobilized. Distraction is key now, for both of us.
I did not faint at the doctors office. I didn't look at his hand, which is probably why, but we made it through...
