Oh yes, that's right, the sun. There's even a little, tiny bit of blue sky out there...

Granted, the week up here hasn't been NEARLY what my southern friends are experiencing (and I hope things dry out, or at least stop getting wetter, soon...), but three days of gray rainy blah is starting to wear. Very few customers at work (who the heck wants to garden in this weather?), and a grumpy boss... Bleh.

Sunday was beautiful! Saw a blowout (7-0, loss) of a SeaDogs game, but [livejournal.com profile] kurlon and I got to ride there and back without getting wet (though his BRAND NEW BIKE has developed an oil leak... hopefully getting taken care of today/tomorrow so he can ride it on Monday at the track day), and spend some time with mom & dad, which was nice. Pictures soon, once I have some time to breathe.

Monday at work was nice for most of the day, no boss to bother us, and a bit warm, and I was so. un. motivated. Thank goodness we were closing at 3, because that's when the pouring rain arrived. Still had to close up and get soaked, even with an umbrella, but got to go home and paint a while.

Tuesday, Wednesday, and so far today (save a few peeks through the clouds) have been cold, gray, and nearly constantly at least drizzly, if not rainy. Bleh. I had to turn the heat on in the car on my way home last night. I woke up Tuesday, so happy it was Thursday... oh, wait... darnit. Good, and bad. Good because that meant I still had 3 days to get the scroll done, bad because... Tuesday? That's it? Ugh.

But, Ding! Scroll is done! To have a few final tweaks done tonight, perhaps, and then be picked up by the wonderful [livejournal.com profile] janeelliot tomorrow afternoon, on her way to the event that I am not going to. Pictures post-event, after the award has been awarded.

Because this Saturday is the Fort Knox Demo! Yay! Will be heading north straight from work tomorrow, to spend the night in the shadow of the fort with Max & [livejournal.com profile] anna_mickel, to fence all day Saturday, and to return home Saturday night tiiiiired.

Track Day Monday. Sunday, tape up the bike, take the mirrors off, disconnect all the lights... Giovanni won't know what to do. We'll see if I can't figure out how to ride with [livejournal.com profile] mylisant, [livejournal.com profile] kr4sh, and [livejournal.com profile] kurlon. It will be a Grand Adventure.

Another Snowy Morning

Early to bed (6 AM) and early to rise (10:30 AM, thanks to the landlord...) may make a man healthy, wealthy and wise, but it makes this particular woman rather grumpy.

Went out for what was hoped to be a quick clean-up around 11:30 last night, did not get back home till 6 AM. Collapsed, didn't even hear Kurlon's alarm go off at 7 (did it, even?). Awoke to the doorbell around 10:15, by the time I figured out what it was and extracted myself from the warm, warm covers, our landlord was walking away from the front step. Guh. plowingtheparkinglot. wantsmetomovetheTahoe. lovely. he'llcomebacklater. Later was 15 minutes. Pounded on the door, this time I made it downstairs, grabbed the keys, and stuck my head (complete with 14 hours worth of shoveling hair rat's nest. Perfect for crazy cat lady look.) out the door. Told him if he wanted it moved right this moment, he could do it. It is still sitting there.

Went out around 11:30. Tiny ball bearings stopped falling from the sky around 1 AM. Saw the moon very briefly around 1:30. Made me happy. Yay! Storm is over! Cleanup is a breeze so far! Spoke too soon. 2 AM, big, fat, fluffy snowflakes start falling. No. Nonononononononono! Craaaaapppp... Cleanup becomes not as much of a breeze. Thankful for probably over-salting the sidewalks we'd done prior to that, so we didn't have to go back to the places we'd just cleared, but LL Bean took a good two and a half hours to get through. Was snowing worse in Freeport. Moon came back around 3:30 AM, hid again around 4, and another snow squall came through. An observer in that big empty parking lot around this time would have witnessed two grown women shouting and shaking shovels at the sky (not terribly enthusiastic shaking... we were exhausted).

Finished, over-treated all the sidewalks (I can still taste salt... blugh.), drove home. I could get sleep. Michelle had an early morning, un-reschesduleable appointment, so as far as I know, she's still up. Not fun.

I am not going to do this next year.

Good things, though... I have today and (I think) most of tomorrow off (a 14 1/2 hour workday is good for something), so I can get started on gold leafing and painting my next scroll project (due at Birka... and a completely different style. Going to be quite the challenge! Very excited!). Will wait till I'm more awake to start that, though. Snow on Saturday has also magically disappeared, so I will (barring a change in the weather) be able to go to our Winter Feast. Lovely. :) Work gets in the way of my fun, but not this weekend.
