Lazy Sunday

With lazy snowflakes... slow, drifty, fluffy flakes, that didn't accumulate much at all. Roads and sidewalks are clear, and there's just a little bit tucked into the grass. No shoveling necessary. Done snowing now, so I can go off and enjoy 'Santa Claus Conquers the Martians' with the rest of my Haus, without worrying about a phone call. :)

Holiday party chez Max and [livejournal.com profile] anna_mickel last night was lovely. Bacon baklava was done in time, and so yummy.

Didn't do much all day; slept till 11, which was wonderful, puttered for a few hours, looked at the clock and was astonished to see it was 2 PM. Cleaned up the sewing room today, re-organized the bookshelves, got rid of some stuff. Feels good to get rid of stuff. I certainly have enough of it. Once it all gets organized, though, it'll be time to move... maybe soon. Maybe not...

RockBand Rocks. :) We got as close as we're going to get to a 'chick band' last night, unless [livejournal.com profile] ninian_vesalius starts picking up drums.

Hooray for [livejournal.com profile] alexsaintpierre's XBox not exploding, and restarting ok when the partial Red Ring of Deathy Doom appeared at the beginning of the evening. Hooray for [livejournal.com profile] alexsaintpierre's awesome drumming of awesomeness, and [livejournal.com profile] valkyrie1972's singing, even when she didn't know the words, and for [livejournal.com profile] anna_mickel's groovy bass playing. Rawk.

Played some more songs on Expert, and did not fail. Found I still have issues with the movements that I have had issues with all along. I just cannot figure out fast 1 to 1-3 switches... argh. Got my first 100% on a song on hard difficulty (that I probably could have done on expert...), and made it through the entirety of 'Behind Blue Eyes' on hard. I have never made it past the beginning, stupid finger-pick acoustic section. HA! Thwarted! I am teh winnar! My [livejournal.com profile] pet_spider was there with me in spirit, if not in person. ;)

The ToDo list was whittled down a bit more than expected today. )

Found the basement, cleaned up the living room a bit, moved a few things. There is much laundry to fold tonight. Then maybe I can get my sewing room back on....... Friday night? oh lordy...

Also, Quadrophenia by The Who is an awesome album. Hands down fantastic. I had never in my life listened to the entire thing until today driving around in the car. Musical brilliance.

Went to the Endewearde Hunt in Newburgh yesterday. A lovely, relaxing event. My first experience with cold-weather (and it wasn't even that cold, really) camping. I did not freeze, though my nose got kinda cold. Spent most of Saturday sitting in the sun by a little pond, doing embroidery with [livejournal.com profile] anna_mickel and [livejournal.com profile] ninian_vesalius. A fine way to spend a day. Many paper targets were slain by other members of the Haushold, and victory was had by Boden in the thrown weapons tourney. A good time had by all. Had to leave far earlier than anybody would have liked, thanks to the call of responsibility...

Photos from the Hunt are here.

Responsibility be darned tomorrow, the first day I can sleep past 7:30 in about 2 weeks. I plan to. Then there is much to be done. Let's see here... )

So... it appears that my day off is not going to be very restorative... I'll get another one in a week, I think... ehheh... Flowers at work this week, am nervous about getting everything right for the wedding... commence panic on my mark...

And yet, they're the only time we have to get anything at all done. I suppose I do a lot of my "weekend" relaxing during the week when I go out for post-fencing dinner, or creativity night, or hot-tub/kitteh nights... Ideally, I would like a 4-day work week. That would leave one day to get the things done that I *had* to get done, one day to do the things I *wanted* to get done, and one day to do nothing at all... Yeah... hm.

I have reclaimed the kitchen. Dishes are clean, floor is washed, table... I found the kitchen table! Recycling is collected and ready to go out the door when J gets back with my car. Aquariums are clean. Plants need repotting still, but that will be done shortly. Then onto the living room, maybe... I'll make J help. He can use a paper shredder with one hand... I will have a clean apartment by the end of the week. Sewing room is going to be last... that's a real disaster (again... still... whatever)

But, in the sewing room, stuffed in a corner of the windowsill, my Wax Plant (Hoya carnosa) is blooming! So happy! It's apparently in a spot it likes, so when we move (eventually...), it'll never blossom again... I love the flowers, though. The cluster is only about 3" wide and tall, and the blossoms themselves are almost velvety (you can see it if you look at the full size photo. SO COOL.), and the fragrance is amazing. They will often times be very messy and drip sticky, honey-like nectar all over the place, but this particular plant has been well behaved so far. Last year, I got three rounds of blossoms from it before it went into growth mode again. This year, it's got at least 6 different inflorescence peduncles (there's some fun terminology for you... buds, essentially) in various stages of formation, so lots and lots of flowers to come. :)
